5. Get a screencap of a movie that made you cry. Put the movie title and describe if you wish.

Easy, hands down, I’d pick “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.” Why? It was the last movie I remember crying to and there aren’t many movies that have caused an onset of tears recently for me.

The film depicts a once well-noted fashion figure as he suffers a heartwrenching stroke that leaves him paralyzed, unable to speak, barely able to hear, and only capable of seeing the world around him with one eye. He’s a vegetable, trapped in his own body. His only means of communicating with the world is by establishing a morse code sort of communication by the number of blinks he performs with his nurses-turned-friends.

It’s difficult to watch but has beautiful cinematography.

This scene-

Sad.

This scene-

Even worse.

I don’t want to give it away. The story’s so beautiful and mesmerizing that you have to watch it for yourself, A. I think you’d like it a lot. Once the film ended, I just sat there paralyzed myself with my roommate. Both of us were just contemplating and taking in the message of the film. Here was a guy who didn’t have the means to live life. But he still did. I think I was complaining about my shit grades or some stupid thing that happened to me prior to watching the film. After I saw this, it humbled me. I was quiet. Watch it, A! Or better yet, we can watch it together. I think I have a copy of it at home…
